What is the Observability Platform?
Overview
The Ministry of Justice’s current Observability Platform is a service for applications that are running on the Ministry of Justice’s Modernisation Platform.
It is hosted on Modernisation Platform and uses Amazon Managed Grafana. This page describes the existing service, not the future solution being explored through discovery.
The Observability Platform provides a way for teams to:
- Visualise application logs and metrics in a single pane of glass
- Alert to PagerDuty and/or Slack based on signals from their logs and metrics
The Observability Platform team maintains the infrastructure, allowing teams to focus on running their applications.

The current offering is intended to be retired in the future. No retirement date or migration timetable is announced here, and discovery does not mean the current service has closed.
A separate discovery is exploring observability needs across Modernisation Platform, Cloud Platform, and other Ministry of Justice teams. It does not announce a selected product, approved future architecture, or replacement ready for use.
