Current platform offerings
This page describes the existing Amazon Managed Grafana service hosted on Modernisation Platform. These capabilities are separate from the future solution being explored through discovery.
Dashboards and data sources
The current platform lets onboarded teams visualise application logs and metrics in Grafana. Tenants have access to their onboarded AWS data sources, a GitHub data source, and a folder in which to create dashboards and alerts.
Data source access depends on the accounts and integrations configured during onboarding. The onboarding guide explains the information and configuration required for CloudWatch, X-Ray, and Athena, as applicable.
Alerting
Teams can configure alerts based on signals from their logs and metrics and use onboarded PagerDuty integrations and/or Slack channels. The onboarding guide describes the existing integration setup.
Access and responsibilities
The Observability Platform team maintains the platform infrastructure. Onboarded teams use their Grafana folder to create dashboards and alerts for their applications.
Access is through the existing AWS access portal described in Accessing the Observability Platform. Onboarding is by invitation only; contact #ask-observability-platform to discuss requirements.
Current capabilities and future needs
Discovery is exploring teams’ needs around telemetry, dashboards, alerting, investigation, integration, and operational effort. These topics are not a committed future service catalogue or an extension of current onboarding eligibility.
